About the job

We are seeking a motivated Associate Data Scientist to drive operational excellence and strategic decision-making through advanced analytics, machine learning, and engineering. In this role, you will work at the nexus of business priorities—patient insights, healthcare analytics, and operational efficiency —applying data science techniques to optimize operations and enhance outcomes across our mission-driven initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Apply machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence techniques to uncover patient behavioral insights, improve healthcare delivery, and drive financial sustainability.
  • Analyze patient and healthcare datasets to identify trends, optimize interventions, and align services with evolving patient needs. 
  • Uses advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data.
  • Visualizes information and develops reports on results of data analysis.
  • Influences product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Regular and reliable attendance. 
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree; or Associate Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working with large datasets for drawing business insights.
  • 2+ years of experience working with SQL in an analytics capacity. 
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in Python or R.
  • Professional working knowledge of machine learning.
  • Professional working knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
  • Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related field of study.
  • Professional working knowledge with Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, or Recommender Systems.
  • Professional working knowledge with distributed computing and big data technologies such as Spark or related technologies. 
  • Experience in cloud environments.
