About the job

The Data Scientist performs exploratory data analysis to extract knowledge or insight from structured and unstructured data. This position will apply knowledge discovery and data mining techniques to large-scale, complex datasets. The best candidate for this position will help the team solve quantitative challenges that optimize business performance and opportunities. 

The ideal candidate should have experience working with large corporate data assets, including enterprise data warehouses and data lakes. The products created by this data science team are deployed via CI/CD integrations into a diverse set of solution types, including cloud-hosted software services, data pipelines, and downstream applications. 

What will you do?

  • Apply machine learning, experimentation, and knowledge discovery and data mining techniques. 
  • Perform large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions. 
  • Create hypotheses and experiments to identify hidden relationships in data and construct new analytics methods. 
  • Expert ability to munge data into features that can be used in machine learning and statistical modeling. 
  • Articulate a vision and roadmap for the utilization of data as a valued corporate asset.
  • Visualize information and communicate results of data analysis. 
  • Influence product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations.
  • Spread best practices to analytics and product teams. 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Desire to solve difficult problems with novel methods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information technology, statistics, economics, or a related STEM field. 
  • 3+ years of experience working with large datasets outside of a university setting, for drawing business insights. 
  • 1+ years of experience in a data science role. 
  • Professional working knowledge of machine learning; including solving complex business problems, predictive modeling, leveraging both structured and unstructured data sources, relational databases, and SQL. 
  • Professional working knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques.
  • Expert in Python or R programming. 
  • Proficient in SQL 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, including cloud solutioning and application deployment 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. 
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
  • Advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience in solving problems in cloud environments. 
  • Professional working knowledge of distributed computing and big data technologies, such as Spark or related technologies. 
  • Professional working knowledge of statistical methods, including Bayesian techniques and Causal Inference. 
  • Professional working knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Information Retrieval, and Recommender Systems. 
  • Professional experience with at least one of the following: 
  • Transformers 
  • Generative AI 
  • Deep Learning 
  • Machine Learning Ops
