We are seeking a Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) who is eager to learn and grow, to join our database infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team to manage, maintain, and optimize our PostgreSQL databases in cloud environments (AWS).

You will be involved in day-to-day database support, assisting with key tasks such as maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior DBAs. Additionally, you will help with configuring new environments, performing basic performance analysis, and participating in data migration projects.

• Assist in the setup, maintenance, and upgrades of PostgreSQL databases.
• Support the resolution of incidents and performance issues under the guidance of senior DBAs.
• Collaborate on backup, restore, and disaster recovery tasks.
• Perform basic SQL query analysis and optimizations, supporting ongoing performance monitoring.
• Work with cloud-based PostgreSQL databases (AWS RDS) and assist with data migrations.
• Document and maintain operational procedures related to database management.
• Learn about advanced topics such as performance tuning, high availability, and database scalability.
• Collaborate with other infrastructure and application teams to ensure database availability and performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience assisting in the analysis and optimization of SQL queries under senior guidance.
• Basic understanding of PostgreSQL performance concepts (indexes, query plans, vacuum, statistics).
• Experience supporting the setup, maintenance, and upgrades of PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience setting up, maintaining and upgrading PostgreSQL databases (version 14-18). 
• 1 to 3 years of experience working with PostgreSQL in cloud environments, preferably AWS RDS.
• Ability to follow operational procedures, document work, and escalate issues when needed.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
• Interest in learning database performance tuning, high availability, and scalability concepts.
• Experience supporting PostgreSQL databases in AWS environments.
• Exposure to database monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar).
• Experience assisting with database or data migrations.
• Basic scripting skills (bash, SQL scripts, or similar) for automation tasks.
• PostgreSQL DBA or AWS-related certifications (nice to have, not required).
